Easy Crochet Bottle Cozy Pattern

Needle: Large-eyed blunt yarn needle (LION BRAND® recommended)
Hook: Size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook

Gauge

16 single crochets = about 4 in. (10 cm)

Notes

The cozy is worked from the bottom up in joined rounds.
When you see “sc in next ch-7 sp 2 rnds below”, insert your hook into the space under the two ch-7 loops from the previous two rounds and work a single crochet through both.
The strap is crocheted separately in rows, then sewn to the cozy.

Instructions

Bottle Cozy

Start the base:
Wrap the yarn around your index finger to form a loop. Insert your hook into the ring, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Carefully remove the ring from your finger and crochet Round 1 into the ring.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, make 6 sc in the ring; join with sl st in first sc. Pull the tail gently to close the center.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in each st around; join – 12 sc.
Continue to make the first stitch of each round in the same stitch as the joining sl st.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st; repeat around; join – 18 sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; repeat; join – 24 sc.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts; repeat; join – 30 sc.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts; repeat; join – 36 sc.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts; repeat; join – 42 sc.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts; repeat; join – 48 sc.

Rnds 9–16: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join.

Lace Section

Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, (ch 5, skip 5 sts, sc in next st) twice, ch 5, skip 5 sts, sc in next 7 sts, repeat between ( ) again, ch 5, skip 5 sts, sc in last 4 sts; join – 18 sc and 6 ch-5 spaces.

Rnd 18: Repeat the same structure as Rnd 17, but work into the ch-5 spaces of the previous round.

Rnd 19: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, (ch 7, skip ch-5 sp, sc in next st) twice, ch 7, skip ch-5 sp, sc in next 7 sts, repeat pattern again; join – 18 sc and 6 ch-7 spaces.

Rnd 20: Repeat Rnd 19.

Rnd 21: Ch 3 (counts as turning chain only), dc in first 3 sts, ch 2, sc in next ch-7 space 2 rounds below, (ch 5, sc in next ch-7 space 2 rounds below) twice, ch 2, dc in next 7 sts, ch 2, sc in next ch-7 sp of Rnd 19, repeat between ( ) again, ch 2, dc in last 4 sts; join – 14 dc, 6 sc, 4 ch-5 spaces, 4 ch-2 spaces.

Rnd 22–25: Follow the same alternating lace and solid pattern as written, ending Rnd 25 with 18 sc and 6 ch-5 spaces.

Rnds 26–33: Repeat Rnds 18–25.
Rnds 34–35: Repeat Rnd 18 twice.

Rnd 36: Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc and 5 sc in each ch-5 space; join – 48 sc.
Rnds 37–38: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join and fasten off.

Strap

With the right side facing, attach yarn above one of the solid 7-st columns on the cozy’s side.

Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in same st and next 6 sts.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across (7 hdc).
Repeat Row 2 until strap measures about 25 in. (63.5 cm) or your desired length.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew the strap’s end directly across from where you started, aligning with the opposite 7-st column.

Finishing

Weave in all yarn ends neatly.
